Cyber Security Consultant Role - £51K - £65k plus benefits

As part of our growth strategy we are looking for a talented Cyber Security Consultant to join our team.

About the Role
As a Cyber Security Consultant, you will be responsible for providing expert cyber security technical advice, guidance and support. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Production of formal deliverables such as accreditation evidence, security policies and operating procedures (SyOPs), risk assessments, and security assurance management plans. As a consultant your role will involve significant stakeholder engagement, liaising directly with the client, and working to programme deadlines
  • Understanding, assessing and articulating business and information risk at a technical and business process level
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of existing security controls and proposing proportionate security improvements
  • Support business development by: developing and managing relationships with our clients; meeting with potential clients to understand their business challenges and developing proposals to meet their requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant experience in a cyber security related role
  • Experience of HMG and MoD Information assurance (IA) requirements: JSP440, JSP604, NCSC IA guidance
  • Experience of the MoD security accreditation lifecycle
  • Practical exposure to the development of system accreditation evidence within the MoD
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Knowledge of Industry standards and best practice for IT management and cyber security
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage own time and work to deadlines.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • CISM
  • Previous experience as a MoD Security Assurance Coordinator
  • Chairing and participation in MoD Security Working Groups
  • Experience of supporting the design and delivery of operational military systems
  • Hands on experience using the MoD DART tool
  • Working with suppliers and assuring security in their equipment deliveries
  • Working on a HMG multi-national equipment delivery programme
  • Knowledge of HMG/MoD TEMPEST requirements and standards
  • Knowledge of HMG cryptographic management and standards
  • Experience of scoping and assessing output from IT Health Checks/Vulnerability Assessments.

Candidates must be:

  • Ideally DV clearance – if not, willing to undergo government security clearance process.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and have the appropriate right to work documents
  • Willing to travel.

Trainee Sales Executive £25-30k + Uncapped Commission + Benefits

Amethyst Risk Management is one of the leading independent specialists delivering cyber security consultancy services.  As the Company continues to expand into new markets, Amethyst is seeking an ambitious trainee sales executive.

Location - Working from home with occasional attendance when required at either the Basingstoke or Farnborough office, and travel as required to prospective clients.

This is a trainee sales role leading to responsibility for generating new business and consultancy opportunities by identifying and closing leads that are self-generated.   You will work closely with the sales team to hit and exceed sales targets, growing and developing our customer base, as well as increasing recurring revenue.

Your responsibilities will involve:

  • Production of sales analysis charts
  • Supporting business development – lead chasing and building your own portfolio of contacts
  • Working with the sales team to sell to new and existing customers
  • Supporting bid preparation
  • Support new framework and procurement portal submissions
  • Maintain and monitor frameworks and portals for new opportunities
  • Marketing and social media activities
  • Researching relevant events and attendance at networking events to aid business development
  • Maintaining a Sales CRM portfolio
  • Liaison with third parties, agencies and contractors
  • Account management
  • Other sales support tasks as required by the Company.


Specific Job Skills & Attributes:

  • Education (minimum of A* - C GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths)
  • IT literate & proficient in use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, & Excel
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the workplace
  • Be passionate about sales within the business environment
  • Be highly self-motivated with an ambitious attitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an enthusiastic approach
  • Confident in your ability and able to establish and build rapport with others
  • Good communication, administration & written skills
  • Good organisational and workload management skills
  • Reliable, determined & diligent.


Desirable Job Skills:

  • Knowledge/ background in IT or cyber security
  • Degree in Business or Information Security
  • Proven track record in selling and account management is desirable but not essential; candidates without specific sales experience will be expected to demonstrate an aptitude for the role.


Candidates must be:

  • Eligible to work in the UK and have the appropriate right to work documents
  • Willing to travel to visit clients around the UK, typically south-east
  • Willing to attend customer events in the evenings, approx twice a quarter
  • Willing to undergo government security clearance process.
